An extensive two-month cruise through the Australian Coast has been cancelled following the death of an elderly lady who was abandoned by the ship on a isolated tropical isle.

Suzanne Rees had been trekking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the party for a pause. The ship left without her and went back later that day after the crew became aware the lady was not present.

An extensive hunt found her body the following day.

Officials are investigating the incident, together with investigators and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the shipping company stated that travelers and staff on the ship were told that the remainder of the cruise had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and previous mechanical issues".
